Prague/Vienna/Budapest

Hi everyone...My son will be a senior this year...Our high school orchestra will be going on a trip to Europe in April '09. Has anyone ever been to Prague/Vienna/Budapest? If you have any travel tips (most of the kids have never been out of the country before!), websites to visit for information, etc. please share with me! Thanks so much! ~Lisa

Hey Lisa!! Glad to see you posting on the travel board. I have to admit, I have traveled widely in Europe and never been to the three places you mentioned. My cousin did have her honeymoon in Prague and thought it was beautiful. Make sure to apply for passports in enough time. You can use an ATM card to get money. That seems to be the easiest thing to do when in Europe. I always visit VirtualTourist.com - Travel Guides, Maps, Photos, Forums, Deals, more I love their forums. I also like FlyerTalk - The world's most popular frequent flyer community . Good luck. You might be able to find some good info on Rick Steves website.
Do you get to go?
Julie

Hey Julie! How are you? I have heard that Prague is beautiful! Yes, I'll be going as I'm the orchestra president at Centennial. I'm so excited! My son and I have already gotten our passports. We went to the post office, made an appointment, went back in with our photos from Walgreens and our completed paperwork. I was amazed that it only took about two weeks before we got them back! I remembered how I read that they were all backed up and it took months to get one. I'm glad that we've done that already...one less thing to worry about. The trip isn't until April of next year so we did have plenty of time. Every four years or so, the orchestra goes on a trip. Four or five years ago they went to Italy. I would have loved if we were going there! They happened to be there the week that the Pope died, so there was alot going on over there. To be honest, I'd much rather take that money I'm spending and go to Hawaii or the Caribbean, but I'm sure it will be a once in a lifetime opportunity. I only have to pay half price since I'm a chaperone, but it's still alot of money. The total price of the trip is $3,400 for ten days. I'm just wondering what is going to happen if the fuel prices go up even further? I know that the dollar isn't worth much over there. I hope that the trip isn't going to be cancelled although there hasn't been any talk of that happening. Anyway, thank you so much for those websites and information. I'll have to check it all out when I get time. ~Lisa

Prices gases are high. The good thing about Europe is once you get to your destination you probably will be doing a lot of walking. Will you be taking a train to the different countries or a bus? It will be a great trip. Hopefully they will not cancel it.I have been to Hawaii and although I loved it, I would say you will enjoy this trip even more. (perhaps not the all the responsibility though) I will have to look around on line and see what else I can find about visiting. Are all the events planned out? Will you have any free days? Just as a side note, did you know Susan Lauterbach? She was a teacher at Centennial. Her last name might have been Broach...
I have not seen you in awhile at a Target! I don't go as much.
