Nashville Hotels?

My dh gets back from Afghanistan the first part of March and we are planning on going to Nashville for the weekend without the kids in tow. We were looking at the Opry Hotel, but are there any other hidden gems in or around downtown Nashville? TIA!
The weekend we had in mind would be around the middle of March!

We stayed at the Renaissance hotel during the 2007 Country Music Fest. Just a block off of Broadway. We loved it.

Opry not near where we stayed, if you're looking for something closer to Broadway and where the bars are. If not I heard Opry is really nice.

I think you need to know that the Opry is NOT in downtown Nashville where all the smaller bars and entertainment is. It's actually quite a ways away, so you'd be doing a little driving to go to the bars. Not like a long distance, but it isn't a place where you are going to walk out and hit some of the local night spots. It's also VERY expensive, but nice. I guess the question is are you going for romance (which I suspect is a BIG part of your trip) or are you country music fans???

Yes, we are going for the romance. I knew the Opry was not in downtown. I was thinking if we stayed at the Opry that we would probably shop and stay in and around the hotel. We are not huge country music fans, but I do like to listen to it. I just like the atmosphere of the downtown area. I don't want to spend an arm and a leg on a hotel and it is a dump or just not worth it.
