Normally I do not complain,I just go in do my shopping and get out,but I always have lots of Coupons and the cashiers are not always so nice about taking them. One girl who sees me coming will open up a checkout for me because she knows I have so many coupons and she is great. In Giant Eagle if you had spent 400+ in a month they gave you a 10% off your total for one grocery trip,Wow I thought this would be Great I can use all those wine tags that expire at the end of the year and all my coupons dated for the end of the year. I went into the store at 9 am figured it would be quite and I wouldnt bother they deli people to much being no one should be in the store,So I pulled out 90 wine tags that I had gotten on Ebay and the trading site, and even a few from this Giant Eagle. I needed 40 packages of meat and cheese from the Deli the girl was very nice that waited on me got everything I wanted with no problem at all she really got good at getting those packages close to 1.00,2.00,and 3.00. I noticed I was being eyed by one of the other girls in the deli with suspiction, the next thing I know is the store manager comes out and asks to see my wine tags,so no problem I showed them to her. The next thing I know is she is taking them to the office to copy them(I raised the objection she wasnt suppose to do that it is against the law) So she ran off with about 7 of my wine tags. So I was done at the deli went over to get 40 bags of Angus beef ans 10 bags of shrimp, the guy at the meat conter was ever so nice and helped me do this with no problem. I then had to go searching to get my wine tags back The manger was none to nice told me she had never seen such coupon abuse in her life,COUPON ABUSE!!!!! Then she told me you picked a bad time to come we have these Deli trays to get out on time and you kept and employee for over an hour with your order. Then she acused me of STEALING the wine tags from her store STEALING????? I was so upset I totally threw me off my shopping and I didnt get half the stuff I had intended on. Then guess who was waiting for me at the check out? Miss personality herself because all 90 wine tags had to be entered in by hand because Giant Eagle doesnt scan them AT ALL. Oh them grumbled and went over all my purchases.it took me over and hour to check out I was exhausted because of thier constant questioning my every purchase. Well was it worth it? I guess I bought 426.00 worth of groceries and paid 126.00 for them and I have enough lunchmeat till next year. I did report this to Giant Eagle hotline,I mean the woman was just RUDE! Has anyone else been bothered by like problems???? Any wine tags I get now go to Walmart, they scan perfectly there! Mindy |

That is totally ridiculous. Next time you go to that store, have a little tape recorder in your hand, don't hide it, keep it visible! If you are using totally legitimate coupons, buying the right products, you should have just smiled at her and asked for her name and ignored her. Some of these coupon police are disgraceful. I was using a wine tag last week on corned beef, and the dumb cashier told me that I couldn't use it because I had to buy "Blackwell Wine" brand corned beef, not store brand! She was totally clueless! Once I was using a ton of coupons at Double Dollar Day at Quality Markets. The cashier looked like she was going to die, she was groaning with every coupons. She looked at me, very rudely, and said, "I want to know where you get all these coupons!" LOL, like it was any of her business! So I leaned very close to her and whispered, "They were in the Sunday newspaper." She looked outraged, but didn't say anymore comments! The most important thing is that you scored a great deal on deli and meat! That will save you lots of money next year!

GE is the only store that I go to where the wine tags don't scan at all. They used to, but I think they do this now so that they don't double and so that they can double-check that they are not one per household, since there are some that are this way. It is really frustrating because a line leader always has to come over and use a key for each one of them at the ones I go to. At Meijer they beep, but the cashier can just push a button and the amount will come up. Much easier. I never use a whole lot at a time at GE just because it takes so long. As everyone else said, as long as they were all legit coupons, there was no reason to be treated that way. I think some people just hate to see people get a good deal on things. I would have called and reported this too. Basically they said that your time as a customer wasn't as important as the other customers who don't know how to save with coupons. |

I've recently noticed I'm being harrassed because of coupons, too. A cashier doing it is one thing, but a manager doing it is really bad. Yesterday, I was disputing the way a cashier rang up my order. She said to me I wasn't paying too much because my bill was $4.86 and I had pies. What did pies have to do with it?

this while not funny , is, i went to GE tonight and had 8 seafood, 2 bakery, and 2 salad, and the mng told me that you were supposed to purchase wine to use those, i replied that it states no wine purchase necessary, her replies it isnt fair that i take them all and they are for the people that purchase the wine, i told him that i traded for them and then called corporate when i got home cant wait to here from reg or him

My fear would be the length of time it took to get through the harrassement. Was your meat bad by that time? I would think they would have to replace your meat which would take double the time! LOL!!! sorry about your problems. I recently had a young man who wasn't happy at Winco because he had to get a manager to unlock his register, he says that happens when you start taking off so much money...

As far as the op while you certainely have the right to use 100 coupons it does seem to be a bit excessive. You might have better luck breaking your orders into smaller trips. It doesn't forgive the manager for being rude but as shoppers we also need to be considerate of the the store workers time since they do have to help other customers. Maybe you could work it out with the manager to call your large orders in ahead of time? Edited with comments...I could have swore the first time I read the post it said 100 coupons. 40 isn't quite so bad in order to qualify for the 10% coupon. |

| Been there!
I seriously think most of these cashiers and manager "coupon police" are just jelous that we are able to save so much money. I dont think they can grasp it well enough to do it themselves, so take it out on us salvy shoppers. The way I look at it, is its your JOB to take coupons. No one is forcing you to work there. Huff and puff all you want, I didn't force you to work there. If you dont like it, maybe being a cashier or manager isn't your cup of tea. Then you just have some that are just on a power trip.
