The triple coupons state:

Offer Valid September 12 thru September 18, 2004,
Only at Cleveland, Akron, Lorain, Lake County and Medina Locations of TOPS Markets.

They don't say "participating" stores, so it must mean ALL stores in those areas. My ad was delivered to Ravenna, which isn't even listed as one of the stores, so it must be everyone in NE Ohio, I'm guessing! And for those of you who haven't had triples for a long time - I think our last triples were in November !!!

The coupons are on a sheet that "covers" the regular TOPS ad.

Let's hope so anyway!!! I haven't had a chance to look over the ad any better yet, hopefully I will in the AM and list some more of the sales for those who can't wait to get their ad!

Thank goodness! And I guess this answers the question about how Tops will be responding to the Giant Eagle changes this week!!!

Does anyone know how the new "automated" triples work? Is it just a reduction from the painfully slow multi-keystroke way they had to triple everything or will they automatically just triple your 5 highest valued coupons like someone else said? Will they still collect all 5 triplers?

Any word on whether or not they will be changing their ad week to Thursday-Wednesday like GE?

I noticed in the online GE ad it shows the specials are running Sunday - Saturday next week and yet they are coming out with another ad for this Thursday. I'd think the Thursday GE ad should be much better than usual to kick start their ad change - at least let's hope so because their ads have been ho-hum lately.

I haven't had triples for ages, so no idea if ours will be automated or not. However, there are SIX triple coupons, not 5, so start clipping those coupons!!!

Ok so I recall the other thread awhile ago where someone said that tops was looking for a way to limit people's ability to triple more than one time. so whoever triples more than once report back! I have composed a short list of things that will be cheap or free, i have to add to it tho.

Anybody done more than one set of triples all in one trip yet? Like back to back separate orders?

I'll be using the bulk of my triples with my Gerber Homemailer coupons this week to get FREE Puffs, Wagon Wheels, Graduates, Lil' Entrees, etc... for Benny But I won't have extras until tomorrow to see if it is linked to your user card or if you can use one set of triples per order. I almost always do 3-4 separate orders with each trip to Tops so I'm REALLY hoping I can do a set of triples with each order! Anybody tried this yet?

TIA!

Teresa

Coupon states one set per household... my husband and I feel that we need to follow that wording... I'm bummed because I like doing triples, and yet, it's a relief as triples are a pain!

Teresa, let me know if they post somewhere that you can do more than one trip at the store. It'd be nice if they lifted those restrictions... maybe when it goes automated, they will.

Okay, I don't even normally shop on Sundays but had to run errands today, so I went to two different TOPS and got my six triples at each with no problem whatsoever.

I've never tried to do back to back orders, feeling I would be pushing my luck and ticking someone off enough to have them change their cash registers to link the # of triples used to your Bonus Card. I think trying to do back to back orders is asking for trouble. I'm happy triples are back in my area and I'd like to see them stay!!! I've always used more than the one set of triple coupons during the week, but not multiple orders in one store in one day. I don't want to ruin a good thing!

I also noticed while I was in the store that Hefty Strong & Spill Resistant plates were 99¢ = free w/ 50¢ coupon, no need to triple!!

I read the fine print that said one per household, when I did a sep order the cashier asked me where my next set was, I told her the coupons said one per household, and she said to me "but it's a seperate order". She would only deny me if the register denied it (which I dont think it will because it gave me overage). I would in NO WAY justify anything I am simply repeating back what I was told. At another tops I was allowed to do two orders. And automated triples, the tripler cous have a bar code that reads the first 6 coupons and triples thos. so EASY and convienant.

Also my Tops is hiding the triples.

I'm new to this and have a question. When the Triple coupon says 'With any purchase of $15 or more', is that the total before any of the mfr coupon values are deducted? Or is that the total at the very end?

It's the total before coupons. So, what I do to make sure that I will be at the $15, is to get as many of the known freebies or really cheap items as I can - such as the Suave or V05.

I did 2 orders back to back at 2 different stores yesterday with no problem. I used some of my mentos free gum coupons..the cashier had to manually put them in..but when I scanned my triple coupons it tripled the 99 cent coupon, it automatically takes off the highest ones.

Couple of other deals I found, don't have rcpt., so this is an estimate on prices.

Nesquick liquid, they pay you w. 50/1(great for making milkshakes)

meatybone dog bisuits, 75/1 they pay you

pillsbury frozen dunkers, .17 after 50/1

Cottonelle, I used a couple of 75/1 from inside old packages, 3.25 for 12 dbl rolls

I know there were more..I'll post again if I remember..

Anyone who uses the North Royalton Topps, be sure you check your receipt before you leave the store. I have never used double or triple coupons at that store and had it come out right. The register never doubles or triples the right amount. I figure out what every item costs before it goes in my cart, so I know what my total should be, minus coupons, before I get to the register. The register never seems to double or triple the right amount so I always wind up going to customer service for a refund. If I didn'r know the total before I got to the register, I might not have even noticed.

Just a heads up about the triples....if you buy something that is less than the value of the coupon tripled, the coupon will only double and the register will look for the next coupon in descending value to be tripled. So if you walk in and only have 6 coupons and you want them all to triple but one or more tripled coupon would exceed the cost of the item, your triple won't work.

I found the Nesquik Syrup in the bunny-shaped bottle and it was only $1.33. Using the $0.50 coupon tripled it would be better than free. So what happened was I bought 2 along with several other items using a total of 10 coupons, but those 2 $0.50 coupons did not triple - instead 2 $0.40 coupons from my Hot Pockets tripled in their place. When I asked at CS why my higher valued $0.50 coupons didn't triple, that is what I was told.

you are tha bomb!!! I tried those mentos FREE coupons and SURE ENOUGH the register tripled them but let me tell you HOW it did it!

Well the cashier had rang up everything, and then proceeded to scan the triples as he scans the regular coupons but I was boohoooing to myself about those extra $$$. After all the coupons had scanned, he did the FREE coupons, okay after he entered them all in and hit total, the register RE-CALCULATED my total and it removed the previous triples (lower valued ones) and tripled the .99 coupons! My total ended up being less than $8!!! I got $3.98 off my order!

Thanks for this tip! I needed it!

I used some triples yesterday at Tops and my total was $20.XX and I gave the Cashier my coupons. She informs me that all my triple may not come off , because it will only triple down to $15 . At first I didn't get what she meant until she says see read the coupon. So I told her I never heard that one before about just going down to $15.

The cashier next to her had to explain that if won't let you get an overage, you will only be able to get items free. She ended up messing up and had to void off the order, lucky I didn't buy that much stuff. Anyhow once the coupons were off my total was $4.xx

What I dislike is when a cashier tries to tell you the rules and they are totally wrong.

***
Debbie thaanks for mentioning about the Hefty plates I would have missed out on those. I ended up gettin three packages free.

I noticed that had that new Quaker instant oatmeal supreme for $1.99 and there were $1 off coupons in this week's paper. The sign said they would be that price until 9/25

At the TOPS I stopped at today, employees from other stores were busy scanning items - I did notice some more "discontinued items" signs, but DS did not feel like walking up and down the aisles! At the checkout, some employees were buying some frozen breaded chix tenders in a blue bag (some off brand) for 99 cents - did notice some frozen cream type pies for 1/2 and still some of the "meal in the box" for 1/2 the price.
