Any1 Else Having This Problem?

The grocery stores in my area are no longer accepting coupons that I print off the internet. I'm not making these coupons myself. I'm printing them from Coupons | Online Coupons and www.couponbug.com. The first store that stopped accepting them was Winco (regional chain in wa, id, nv, co, and or), then Fred Meyer (kroger). The only other grocery store here that accepts them is Albertsons. They are so expensive that by the time I use the coupon I might as well buy it at one of the less expensive groceries. I asked the cashiers at Winco and Fred Meyer why, they said they are not being reimbursed for the coupons, if this is true why is Albertsons still accepting them? Before someone brings up Wal-Mart, let me tell you this, I have never stepped foot into a Wal-Mart and I am not planning on it anytime soon. I just don’t agree with how they run their business. Please don't crucify me for the Wal-Mart comment. It's just my personal opinion; I didn’t bring it up to start an argument.

I won't say a word about your not shopping at WM.... See my tag line

The grocery stores in my area haven't accepted printed internet coupons in a LONG time. Target won't either...not their own sites either due to "printing fraud". They have signs posted at the checkouts. I don't shop Albertson's (WAY to high priced compared to other stores here) so I didn't know they took them. I don't bother with internet coupons anymore since I can't find a store to take them

I have the same problem. The only groceries that accept internet coupons are the pricey ones. So, the only internet coupons I use are the ones for free products or those that are high value and can be doubled at the pricey stores.

try not to print the coupon only, try to print the entire page so it proves it is an internet coupon from the site with the info at the top and bottom of the page. I had a similar problem. Also, my printer cartridge was bad and was printing everything in red or black in the case of text, that was supposed to be other colors. I was told the printed coupons had to be in color. Also, I used 4 at one Harris Teeter and the other Harris Teeter would only accept 2, which is their limit on internet coupons.

Where to get more coupons- other than internet printables and the Sunday paper??

Some of the printables will let you ask the company to send you a coupon instead of printing it out. Unfortunately, the recent $1.00 off Velveeta coupon looked the same if you printed it or had the company print it- theirs did come on a blue background paper. (My mom printed, I had mine sent b/c no printer.)

I don't know whether your stores would take the coupon or not because it looks like a computer coupon. (our Kroger in Nashville/ Hendersonville didn't have a problem with it- I think there is a policy for free item internet coupons, though.)

For your (Kroger) store, you can have shortcuts coupons added to your card on the computer. Also, get on the mailing list or whatever you need to do for your stores: Kroger regularly sends coupons. Mom's included free Cheerios and Free Special K this month- I got $5. off a $50. purchase and free grape tomatoes last month- plus lots of other 50 cent to $2. coupons on various items. Combine with a sale, and they can be good deals. Some of them aren't though- you just have to watch. SInce you are on this board, I know you are a savvy shopper. These are considered manufacturer's coupons, so you can't combine them (except the $5. off $50, etc).

Catalinas! SO MANY people just leave these at the register! Sometimes the cashier will not say anything if you take them out of the trash. At Halloween, the old man at the next register left the catalina, so I grabbed it. It was one of those $5. off your next order from buying candy. I ran to the parking lot to find him, but he was too quick for me- maybe he had someone waiting . I hated that I got his $5. but not enough to toss it. I have found MANY free product coupons and good coupons this way. In my purse at this moment, I have a catalina for a free bottle of Afrin- which I don't use, plan to give to a guy at work- and 3- $3. off any Downy.

That is so odd that Target won't accept their own coupons. I understood that they would accept only one current Target coupon for each item type (ie: no printing out 10- $1.00 off Ocean Spray juice, no using expired coupons). I even print them out at the kiosks in the store- on their blue paper! It's just really odd.

Magazines will sometimes have coupons (All You always does, and there have been alot of free Diet Dr Pepper coupons in Jan/ Feb magazines. Carefree, too)

hth

It's been a while since I'm been to MC, but thought I would share some info I received re: Safeway's coupon policy.

Last month, when I tried to use an internet printed coupon at Pak N Save, the cashier told me that they don't accept internet printed coupons. I told her that I always use internet coupons at this store, so she accepted it, but said that they don't take them anymore. So I wrote to Safeway to find out if that was the policy, and if so, why they have printable coupons on their website. Safeway wrote back. They do accept internet printed coupons, with some conditions. Here is their reply to my email:

You commented on the acceptance of Internet coupons at the store, and inquired about the relevant policy. For your convenience, relevant information is provided below:

Printable Internet Coupons are defined as on-line print at home coupons that consumers receive from either a retailer website (for example: Vons.com), a manufacturer website (for example: Kraft Foods.com) or from a legitimate coupon website, (for example: Coupons.com). These websites typically require shoppers to register on-line before granting access to print the coupon, and generally limit the customer to print only one type of coupon from their website to discourage duplicates coming from a single computer.

In order to insure that we accept only legitimate printable Internet coupons, Safeway has adopted the following store policies and guidelines. These policies and guidelines are company wide.

1. We will not accept any printable Internet coupons that do not have a manufacturer's bar code or manufacturer's redemption instructions.

2. We will accept any printable Internet coupons only if they scan properly at checkout.

3. We will not accept more than one "copy" of the same printable internet coupon per customer.

4. We will not accept any printable Internet coupons for a Free Product (other than a "Buy One Get One Free Offer" that requires a purchase of the like item)

5. We will not accept any printable Internet coupons for more than a $5.00 value or for more than 50% of a product's retail price, whichever of the two is lower.

6. We will not accept any printable Internet coupons that do not have an easy to read expiration date or that extend more than 12 weeks. (Most printable internet coupons may expire 30-45 days after you print them)

7. We will not accept any printable Internet coupons that appear out of proportion, appear blurry, or are obvious duplicates.

8. Any printable internet coupons that appear to have been altered in any way, may be rejected. (Printable Internet coupons are nearly always printed using the same technology and therefore have a standard format, with very specific security features, including a unique serial code.

If you would like to discuss this further, please reply to this email or call our toll free number at 1-877-723-3929 and reference contact I.D. XXXXXXX. One of our associates will be happy to assist you.

We appreciate your business and look forward to seeing you soon. Thank you for shopping at Pak’n Save.

(My coupon fit all of the above criteria.) HTH someone.

With the volatility behind the acceptance of IP coupons ...

Saying that "I always use Internet coupons at this store."

Really does not hold water.

Coupon policies are not cast in concrete ... they are subject to change, especially with the abuse found in IP coupons.

Thanks for taking the time to post a retail establishment's coupon policy (subject to change).

Guess I am lucky as none of my stores have refused to take my internet coupons, including Wal Mart.

I agree with you. But the reasons I posted was (1) to point out that cashiers don't always know their own store's policy and (2) to share Safeway's policy.

I didn't mean to imply that anything was written in stone or to imply that past practices dictate current/future practices. Just wanted to share my experience.
