MyCoupons adds fraud resistant electronic delivery module for manufacturers' coupons

Written: 30 Oct 2005

Pittsburgh, PA - October 30 - MyCoupons, a one-stop coupon editing and distribution network today announced it has added fraud resistant coupons. Manufacturers can now use the MyCoupons Network to host and distribute electronic print-at-home coupons.

In August, MyCoupons released mcBuilder, a product that combines professional coupon editing software with an established online consumer distribution network. "We've proved the system by delivering 150,000 requested coupons, and are now pleased to release the fraud resistant and trackable print-at-home module for manufacturers," says president Jason Wolfe.

Manufacturers are ultimately responsible for reimbursing coupon offers. Therefore, it is necessary that they guard against run-away distribution and counterfeiting. MyCoupons' anti-fraud initiative plans to curb the misredemption of coupons by targeting four weaknesses inherent in online coupons; copying, sharing, file manipulation, and screen capture. "Our deterrents include serialized codes for every coupon, registering users, adding the consumers name to the coupon, watermarks, and data encryption," says chief technologist Greg Stoltz.

Beyond making coupons fraud resistant, the product offers distribution flexibility. Coupons are hosted by MyCoupons in an application service provider (ASP) fashion. MyCoupons provisions the security, resources, and bandwidth needed to successfully carry out an online coupon campaign. The result is it takes very little effort to distribute and track coupons across a variety of channels using mcBuilder.

The decisive benefit of online coupons is a closed loop transaction where marketers can quickly and easily collect marketing intelligence starting with a coupon's origin and continuing through to a purchase. "Marketers can gain prompt insight to who, when, and where their promotions are appealing and make necessary adjustments on an ongoing basis with our new manufacturers' module. By diminishing the risks we aim to provide an effective environment for manufacturers to attract and retain customers," says Mr. Wolfe.
